problem
The core problem was simplifying complex training data (e.g., shot location, defensive efficiency, conditioning metrics) which, if presented as raw numbers, would overwhelm the user. The goal was to transform these statistics into compelling visual graphics that make data immediately actionable and encourage daily use
solution
I recognized the opportunity to leverage data visualization to increase athlete engagement. By designing the BaskeTime Tracker app with a focus on intuitive flow and visual clarity, you built a robust, scalable digital platform. This project confirms your capacity to design sophisticated tools for tracking user performance and is a key asset for developing proprietary fan or team engagement applications.
The BASKETIME TRACKER - A coach in your pocket
The BaskeTime Tracker project is a comprehensive mobile UI/UX design for a basketball performance application. Its core concept is to provide athletes with a "Coach in your pocket," a sophisticated digital tool that not only records training data but actively uses that data to deliver personalised, adaptive training programs. It represents a powerful fusion of sports analytics and intuitive mobile design.
My personal motivation for this project was to merge my passion for sports and my analytical design foundation. I recognised that traditional basketball training often relies on gut feeling or generic routines. The goal was to prove that analytical rigour and high-impact visual communication could be applied to sports performance, creating a highly engaging product that directly correlates effort with tangible, visualised progress. This drive confirmed my belief that data, when properly structured and designed, is the most powerful motivator.
The practical application of BaskeTime Tracker is to provide athletes at all levels with a data-centric performance monitoring platform.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT:
STEP 1 - DISCOVERY & RESEARCH:
User Personas: Defined key user types (e.g., competitive high school player, casual trainer) and their specific data needs.
Competitive Analysis: Studied existing fitness and sports apps to identify best-in-class features and market gaps.
Requirements Definition: Established the core features, including drill logging, progress tracking, and personalised feedback loops.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————
STEP 2 - WIREFRAMING & INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE:
Mapping User Flow: Created detailed flowcharts to ensure every interaction, from logging a session to viewing a dashboard, was logical and minimised steps.
Low-Fidelity Wireframe: Sketched key screens to establish layout and content hierarchy, focusing on where data visualisation would be most effective.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————
STEP 3 - VISUAL DESIGN & PROTOTYPING (UI):
Brand Identity: Developed a vibrant colour palette and bold typography to reflect the energetic nature of the sport.
High-Fidelity Mock-up: Designed the final UI, focusing heavily on intuitive data visualisation (e.g., using colour gradients to show shot percentages).
Interaction Prototyping: Built interactive prototypes to test the user experience, particularly the seamless transition between performance view and training suggestions.
——————————————————————————————————————————————————
FINAL STEP - FINALISATION & DOCUMENTATION:
Prepared all final design assets and a style guide (components, typography, colours) for potential developer hand-off, ensuring the design system was scalable for future feature additions.
